Warner Bros. Television and DC Entertainment announced today that fans will finally be getting what they want in 2018! More specifically, a live-action Teen Titans series and the desperately sought after third season of the animated Young Justice series. Both series are in the very early stages of production but are set to air exclusively on a DC-branded direct-to-consumer digital service in 2018.
“Titans,” an all-new live-action drama/adventure series, will be headed by the impressive group of Akiva Goldsman (“Star Trek: Discovery,” “Underground”), Geoff Johns (President & Chief Creative Officer, DC Entertainment; “The Flash,” “Arrow”), Greg Berlanti (“Arrow,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”) and Sarah Schechter (“Arrow,” “DC’s Legends of Tomorrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl”). The series will follow a group of young heroes who have been recruited from every corner of the DC Universe. Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows of Gotham City to become the leader of a band of new heroes, including Starfire, Raven and more.
In the third season of Young Justice, dubbed “Young Justice: Outsiders,” the teenage superheroes of the DC Universe face their greatest challenge yet as they takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy. The first two seasons of “Young Justice” were praised by critics and viewers alike, but despite more than 25 million unique viewers in each of its two seasons on Cartoon Network, it was cancelled in 2013. Emmy Award winner Phil Bourassa (“Young Justice,” “Justice League Dark,” “Teen Titans: The Judas Contract”) will return as the series’ art director.
